  • Bowtech Ease or arnica…? Posted July 17, 2019

    Off

I was recently asked to advise on the use of Bowtech Ease for bruising, as opposed to application of arnica gel which has long been known for its anti-inflammatory properties. The answer is yes, our natural aromatherapy-based oil is safe and effective to use on bruising, as vouched for from my own experience.

Having fallen and put out my hands instinctively to save myself as I tumbled forward, I ended up with hands that were badly grazed and bruised… not a good look for a complementary therapist! Applying Bowtech Ease to help the healing process and reduce risk of infection, I was delighted to see the bruising faded more quickly than might have been expected.

I shouldn’t really have been surprised as we know Bowtech Ease brings good results in a wide variety of conditions. Our much-loved Bowen colleague, the late Rosemary MacAllister, described it as her first aid kit in a bottle. She had one in her handbag, one in her golf bag, and another in her car glovebox as well as keeping a rollerball to hand at home! That’s a pretty powerful endorsement.

More recently, Bowen therapist, Kim Sheppard from Devon, has written to say she has found Bowtech Ease beneficial for any application where arnica may have been considered for topical use. This includes bruising and stiffness around joints, including arthritic-type ailments.

We’d love to hear more examples of how Bowtech Ease has helped you and your clients and do please share your experience and case studies via email or get in touch through this website.

    Stress Awareness Month
Helen's top tip if you're feeling stressed is to take a bath!
We know that warm water promotes blood flow and can help loosen tight, aching muscles. So it makes sense that relaxing in a bath can be an effective way to relieve stress.

As a Bowen Technique therapist and instructor, Helen also understands that by activating the parasympathetic nervous system (which helps us relax) in this way lowers cortisol (the stress hormone) and releases serotonin... in simple terms, helps reduce anxiety and encourage more restful sleep.

So much for the science... for an extra tip, add a handful of #bexterscrystals with magnesium to enhance the effect.
