  • Natural remedy to reduce swelling Posted February 28, 2019

    Off

WHY is swelling a bad sign? And how can Bexters crystals help?

Swelling is often a symptom of inflammation, a result of increased fluid and/or white blood cells to the affected area – the body’s response to aid the healing process.

Such swelling caused by injury, accident or chronic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, is a natural defence to protect the injured/affected area and forcing us to reduce movement which can hinder everyday activity.

Inflammation is a natural healing response when the body recognises damage caused by injury, infection or some other irritation. In addition to swelling other effects include redness, pain, heat and loss of normal function. It is most frequently seen in the joints or around strained or torn ligaments, muscles and tendons.

Swelling and inflammation, not always simultaneously but quite often found together, are most common within the sporting community as well as those suffering from chronic arthritic conditions or repetitive tasks. Seek advice from a GP, a complementary therapist or physiotherapist to identify the cause and ensure the best treatment to help the body to recover.

If swelling is left untreated for too long it can lead to serious discomfort and slows recovery time be it from sporting injury, intensive training, an unfortunate accident or post-surgery such as knee replacement. Prolonged inflammation can also cause knock-on problems, leading to chronic and repeat swelling with potential for tissue damage.

Bexters crystals, first used widely by the Bowen community after endorsement by Tom Bowen, provide effective, natural relief from swelling and pain to ease discomfort and accelerate recovery. For maximum results use the crystals with our purpose-designed applicator wrap.

We are well used to Helen receiving inquiries from runners wanting advice on how Bexters Soda Crystals might alleviate a swollen knee or ankle after an event or intensive training.
Now we read of a 'harmful' TikTok running trend that has seen a rise in knee injuries, in particular, due to so-called 'runfluencers' offering advice to newbies and even selling unproven training courses via social media.
Our advice is not to fall for these seemingly 'cool' videos and head for your local running club instead. Nothing beats professional advice from experienced runners and a properly planned, steady programme of training. Perhaps start with a weekend Park Run and see how you go.
And don't forget, we are here with our award-winning #bexterscrystals if you do happen to pick up an injury, used and recommended by athletes and physios.

Triathlete Paul H from Rutland told us:
"Using Helen's applicator wrap with Bexters helped me enormously by dramatically reducing the swelling after a knee operation."

Bexters Soda Crystals are much more than your average pain relief product. Our award-winning crystals work by drawing out fluid from a swollen or inflamed area to aid the healing process.

Option 1: Apply crystals using our purpose-designed applicator wrap over swollen knee, ankle or wrist. Overnight the wrap will become wet as fluid is absorbed thanks to the crystals natural 'hygroscopic' quality. Wash and dry the wrap and repeat as necessary.

Option 2: For feet that feel heavy, tired and puffy after a run or a long day in heels, tip a generous tablespoon of Bexters into warm water and soak.
