Case Study: Julia Richardson
Occupation: Clerical officer
The Challenge
Keen amateur tennis player badly strained her Achilles tendon after over-reaching for a difficult return shot during the mid-stages of an inter-club competition. She cut back on practice games in the hope rest would fix the problem.
The Solution
With no sign of improvement, and the tendon feeling increasingly tender and sore, she sought help from Helen who suggested a course of Bowen therapy alternating with soaking foot and ankle in warm water with Bexters Soda Crystals to relieve discomfort and reduce any swelling. Bowtech Ease aromatherapy oil was applied daily and number of matches played reduced to just one or two a week.
The Outcome
Within one week of completing treatment she won a gold medal in the final and has had no long-term ill effects.
Julia says: “I like to play tennis three times a week and was doing well in the competition when I picked up the injury to the tendon. I was upset to think I might have to bow out of the competition but the combination of Bowen therapy and using Bexters at home did the trick.’
