Triathlete Emma Sowden has incorporated Bexters Soda Crystals into her gruelling training programme as she prepares for Ironman UK in July. Her training plan includes taking part in various events around the country to build up speed and stamina.
On Sunday, this saw her running and cycling in the PACTRAC Peterborough Duathlon which comprises a 4-mile run, 18 miles of cycling and a further 2.5 mile run. She told us leg cramp was a problem during the cycling phase – something that a bath in Bexters Soda Crystals would likely sort out later.
To date, Emma’s training has been focused more on running as she prepares for the 26.2-mile Paris Marathon next Sunday (April 9th). Wrapping both ankles with the crystals is preventing the puffiness to which she has been prone as well as keeping her feet pain-free. Her schedule after the marathon will incorporate more cycling and swimming.
As the duathlon was taking place locally we went over to wish her good luck and see how she had to ‘prep and track’ her bike ready for the transition from one stage to the next. It was all very well organised and we took this quick snap before she entered the spectator-free zone.
A keen runner who completed several marathons before taking up triathlon last year, Emma had tried various remedies to ease her aching muscles. She told us: “If I am not working I am training, with a full schedule of races leading up to the main event. Post-training recovery has been an issue and it seems as if Bexters could be the answer.”
