TRIATHLETE Emma Sowden crossed the finish line in her first-ever Ironman event despite a painful knee injury. She showed incredible resilience and self-belief and we applaud her achievement.
She was one of 2,500 participants in Ironman UK last weekend (July 16th) and we have been following her progress here on our blog while she uses Bexters Soda Crystals to assist and accelerate post-training recovery.
“The swim went incredibly well but the second half of the bike ride was painful as I had jarred my knee a few weeks previously with no time for it to properly heal,” she said. “The marathon stage was a real ‘pain cave’ but I was determined to finish and crossing the line was an experience I won’t forget in a hurry. The support around the whole course was incredible,” she added.
“I bathed in Bexters the night before and the night after, as well as wrapping my knee most evenings since. I am pleased to say it is no longer swollen, just feels a little tight so I am doing lots of gentle stretching to get things back to normal while I take a brief break from training.”
